Head of GenAI

Job description

​We are partnering with a leading financial services organisation that’s on a mission to transform how it serves clients, empowers advisors, and delivers insights—through the power of Generative AI.
They are now hiring a Head of GenAI to spearhead the firm’s enterprise AI strategy and innovation agenda. This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll define and scale GenAI solutions across business lines—ensuring innovation with responsibility, security, and governance at its core.

🔑 Responsibilities

AI & GenAI Strategy Leadership

  • Define and lead the GenAI roadmap aligned with business and client objectives.

  • Identify impactful use cases: from client Q&A bots and investment research summarization to advisor copilots and KYC automation.

  • Advise senior leadership on GenAI trends, risks (e.g., hallucinations, IP leakage), and enterprise opportunities.

Product Innovation & Delivery

  • Drive the design and deployment of GenAI-powered tools that enhance:

    • Client experience (e.g., financial education bots)

    • Advisor productivity (e.g., meeting prep assistants)

    • Investment analysis (e.g., real-time summarization)

    • Compliance automation (e.g., GenAI-based surveillance)

  • Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to build secure, scalable solutions.

AI Governance, Security & Risk

  • Lead development of AI governance frameworks covering privacy, explainability, IP management, and compliance (GDPR, SEC, FINRA).

  • Define evaluation metrics (toxicity, factuality, reliability) for GenAI applications.

  • Collaborate with risk, legal, and compliance to validate safe and trusted GenAI deployments.

Talent, Culture & Capability Building

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of AI researchers, prompt engineers, MLOps professionals, and product managers.

  • Promote GenAI fluency across the enterprise via training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with digital, advisory, marketing, investment, and ops teams to co-develop GenAI tools tailored to front-line use.

  • Evaluate and influence platform/vendor partnerships (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere).

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or Data Science; finance certifications (e.g., CFA) a bonus.

  • 10+ years in AI/ML, with 2–3 years specifically leading GenAI programs at scale, ideally in financial services or wealth management.

Technical Expertise

  • Hands-on with LLMs (GPT, Claude, Gemini), embeddings, prompt engineering, RLHF.

  • Knowledge of MLOps, LLMOps, and enterprise cloud platforms (Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, GCP Vertex AI).

  • Experience deploying GenAI in production via APIs and containerized environments.

Business & Leadership Acumen

  • Deep understanding of wealth management workflows, regulatory obligations, and advisor needs.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to drive executive alignment on innovation agendas.
