Head of Data Platform

Job description

​We are seeking an experienced Director, Data Delivery Lead to play a pivotal role in the design, build, and delivery of a next-generation enterprise data platform for a global bank.
This is a highly visible leadership role at the heart of a major data transformation, working across business, technology, and strategic partners to deliver scalable, high-quality data capabilities in a complex, regulated environment.

What You'll Do

Enterprise Data Platform Delivery

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a scalable, high-performance enterprise data platform.

  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into clear technical designs and executable delivery plans.

  • Own timelines, milestones, and deliverables across multiple concurrent workstreams.

  • Ensure successful execution in line with quality, security, and governance standards.

Data Mapping & Migration Leadership

  • Take full ownership of source-to-target data mapping, a critical success factor in large-scale migrations.

  • Analyse complex source systems and define data flows from domain platforms into the target data environment.

  • Drive the creation, review, and sign-off of detailed Source-to-Target Mapping (STM) documentation.

  • Partner closely with Data Engineers, Architects, and Business Analysts to implement complex transformation logic and business rules.

  • Establish and execute robust testing strategies to ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Act as the primary technical interface with system integrators and external vendors.

  • Manage Statements of Work (SOWs), delivery quality, and vendor performance against agreed outcomes.

  • Coordinate delivery across SI partners, country technology teams, and senior stakeholders.

  • Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies clearly at executive level.

Leadership & Governance

  • Provide hands-on technical and delivery leadership across the data programme.

  • Champion best practices in data governance, security, and quality.

  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture using Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 8+ years’ experience in data integration, data warehousing, or enterprise data platform development.

  • 3+ years in a delivery or technical leadership role on large-scale, complex data programmes.

  • Deep, hands-on expertise in data mapping and source-to-target design for enterprise migrations.

  • Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Solid knowledge of modern data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.

  • Experience with ETL/ELT and orchestration tools (e.g. dbt, Airflow, Talend, Informatica).

  • Proven ability to manage third-party vendors and complex delivery dependencies.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.


Nice to have

  • Cloud or data certifications (AWS, GCP, Databricks, etc.).

  • Strong SQL and/or Python capability.

  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA-DMBOK).

  • Agile / Scrum delivery experience (Scrum Master certification a plus).

  • Background in banking or financial services.

  • Base salary: 300K – 340K (depending on experience)
