Head of AI
Job description
Our client is looking for a Head of Artificial Intelligence to lead the enterprise-wide AI strategy, development, and implementation across the sales and distribution business.
Reporting to the Chief Data Officer, this executive will be responsible for driving innovation and operational excellence through advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI solutions, while ensuring adherence to governance, ethical, and regulatory standards.
This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role—balancing visionary thinking with executional rigor to embed AI as a core enabler of growth, risk management, and customer experience in a highly regulated global financial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
Define and execute the enterprise AI strategy aligned with the firm’s data, technology, and digital transformation roadmap.
Partner with senior executives across business units to identify high-value AI opportunities that drive revenue growth, operational efficiency, and risk reduction.
Establish and lead the AI Center of Excellence (AI CoE) to centralise best practices, frameworks, and reusable assets across the organisation.
AI Development and Delivery
Oversee end-to-end lifecycle of AI solutions—from research and experimentation to deployment, monitoring, and scaling in production.
Drive the adoption of machine learning, NLP, generative AI, and advanced analytics across critical domains such as risk modeling, fraud detection, customer personalisation, and investment insights.
Collaborate with Technology and Data Engineering teams to build scalable AI platforms and model pipelines on cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Governance and Responsible AI
Develop and enforce standards for AI ethics, transparency, fairness, and explainability in line with global regulatory expectations (e.g., EU AI Act, MAS guidelines, US SEC standards).
Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Legal to establish robust governance for model validation, data privacy, and algorithmic accountability.
Lead internal AI education and culture-building programs to ensure responsible adoption across all levels of the firm.
Leadership and Collaboration
Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of data scientists, AI engineers, and product managers.
Act as a thought leader internally and externally, representing the firm in AI industry forums, partnerships, and academia.
Drive collaboration between the AI CoE and business units to accelerate innovation through agile delivery models.
Qualifications and Experience
Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
15+ years of experience in data science, AI, or advanced analytics, with at least 5+ years in senior leadership roles within financial services or large-scale global enterprises.
Proven track record of delivering enterprise AI initiatives that achieved measurable business impact.
Deep understanding of machine learning frameworks, LLMs, MLOps, and cloud-based AI ecosystems.
Familiarity with financial industry regulations, model risk management, and responsible AI frameworks.
