Lead Data Engineer

​A leading global tech consulting organisation is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to design, build, and operate production-grade data pipelines and analytics engineering workflows. The ideal candidate thrives on solving complex data challenges, collaborating closely with both business stakeholders and platform teams, and shaping scalable, modern data architectures. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact data initiatives for some of the world’s largest enterprises.

🔧 What You’ll Do
  • Build and operate scalable, production-grade data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and vectorization pipelines that power advanced search and retrieval.

  • Partner with client data and platform teams to translate business requirements into robust data engineering solutions.

  • Automate deployment, scaling, and monitoring to ensure reliability and smooth operations.

  • Optimise data storage, query performance, and infrastructure cost across modern data stacks.

  • Troubleshoot issues across pipelines, orchestration, and cloud infrastructure to maintain high performance.

  • Lead solutioning sessions, helping clients turn business objectives into actionable engineering plans.

  • Communicate architecture decisions and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, producing clear documentation and runbooks.

  • Provide thought leadership on scalable, secure, and observable data platform engineering.

💡 What You’ll Bring
  • 8+ years in software engineering or data engineering.

  • Strong proficiency in Python.

  • Hands-on experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests for data pipelines and services.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices (CI/CD, IaC, observability) and Agile ways of working.

  • Solid understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling.

✨ Nice-to-Have
  • Experience with AWS and Kubernetes (K8s).

  • Exposure to modern data platforms: Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Spark, Apache Hive, plus open table formats like Delta Lake and Iceberg, and vector databases.

  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or Temporal.

  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions and observability tooling like Datadog.
