Head of Infrastructure

Job description

​We are partnering with a leading financial institution to find a transformational leader to head their Infrastructure Division within the Information Technology Group.
This is a key leadership role managing enterprise infrastructure to ensure reliable, scalable, secure, and high-performing IT systems. You will guide both tactical execution and long-term strategy, leading department heads across multiple infrastructure domains.

🔑 Responsibilities
  • Oversee evaluation, selection, implementation, and lifecycle management of enterprise infrastructure.

  • Drive infrastructure architecture, capacity planning, performance tuning, and modernisation.

  • Lead divisional strategy aligned with the organisation’s technology and business objectives.

  • Manage teams across systems, databases, and network administration functions.

  • Ensure high availability, security, and integrity through robust preventive maintenance and protection measures.

  • Champion modernisation efforts such as virtualisation, cloud adoption, consolidation, and outsourcing.

  • Optimise infrastructure spend while maximising value through strategic vendor partnerships.

✅ Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in IT Infrastructure, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Proven expertise in managing complex IT environments including servers, storage, network, and security systems.

  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure architecture, performance management, and capacity planning.

  • Deep understanding of modern technologies including cloud, virtualisation, automation, and standardisation.

  • Familiarity with IT governance frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., ITIL, COBIT).

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CISSP, AWS, Azure, VMware, CCNP/CCIE) are a strong advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence C-level stakeholders, and manage large-scale transformation projects.

  • Experience in budget oversight and vendor negotiation.
