Java Engineering Lead
Job description
We are partnering with a leading bank that is expanding its Digital Investments function — a major growth area within the organisation. They are looking for a Java Lead Engineer to help modernise and drive the bank’s insurance and wealth technology landscape.
In this role, you will lead a small team of engineers, shape technical strategy, and deliver highly scalable applications that impact millions of customers across the region. This is a hands-on leadership role where technical excellence, product ownership, and forward-thinking engineering practices are key.
🔍 What You'll Do
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers within the digital investments domain.
Drive architectural and technical design decisions for high-impact banking applications.
Work across wealth and insurance technology platforms to support digital transformation initiatives.
Champion modern engineering practices, clean code, and test-driven development.
Collaborate closely with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
🎯 What We're Looking For
Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, system design).
10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Commercial background in wealth management or financial markets technology.
Expert-level Java programming skills.
Solid understanding of the Spring framework.
Strong grounding in TDD, clean code, and modern engineering principles.
Business-level Mandarin is essential due to stakeholder engagement requirements.
