Senior Data & AI Engineer

Job description

My client, a leading digital bank in Southeast Asia, is seeking a Senior Data & AI Engineer to join their Financial Crime team. This is a high-impact role where you will build the data and AI backbone that powers fraud detection, entity resolution, and compliance analytics across a rapidly scaling regional bank.

🔍 What You’ll Do

  • Build and optimise high-performance data ingestion pipelines using Python, PySpark, and SQL.

  • Design, develop, and maintain data models for fraud detection, behavioural profiling, and entity resolution.

  • Work with large, complex datasets within Databricks and cloud environments (AWS preferred).

  • Implement robust data quality checks and ensure end-to-end pipeline reliability.

  • Partner closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, Compliance, Operations, and Product teams.

  • Manage large-scale batch and streaming workloads using jobs, workflows, APIs, and Spark Structured Streaming.

  • Integrate pipelines with key external systems (sanctions, biometrics, authentication, ID&V).

  • Support ETL automation, monitoring, DevOps practices, CI/CD, and secure coding standards.

🎯 What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant industry experience.

  • Strong development skills in Python, PySpark, Scala, and advanced SQL (Postgres preferred).

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Fabric, or similar cloud data platforms.

  • Experience working with structured and unstructured production-grade data.

  • Familiarity with Agentic AI, MLFlow, ML models, validation and evaluation frameworks.

  • Proficiency with AWS, S3, git-based version control, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Comfortable working with Delta, Parquet, JSON, CSV, XML file formats.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills in an international environment.

✨ Nice to Have

  • Experience in Financial Crime, AML, KYC, fraud, or risk systems.

  • Knowledge of entity resolution tools (e.g., Quantexa, Sensing, open-source frameworks).

  • Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Spark Streaming, MQ.
