Program Manager – Payments (Director, ED level)
Job description
We are partnering with a global bank and they are looking for multiple experienced Program Managers to lead strategic their payments modernisation initiatives within the Wholesale and Corporate Banking space. You will oversee mission-critical technology programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards, operational resilience, and future-ready payments architecture.
🔧 What You'll Do
Program Leadership & Delivery
Lead planning and execution of multi-stream, multi-country payment programs.
Manage full program lifecycle: scoping, design, build, testing, deployment, and post-go-live stabilisation.
Establish strong governance, delivery KPIs, and control frameworks.
Drive collaboration across internal teams, technology vendors, and third-party partners.
Stakeholder Management
Partner with leadership across Transaction Banking, Operations, and Compliance to ensure delivery supports strategic business objectives.
Present program updates, risk reports, and investment summaries to executive committees.
Influence cross-functional decision-making to resolve issues and optimize outcomes.
Payments Technology Expertise
Oversee modernisation of wholesale payment systems (SWIFT, RTGS, ACH, CHIPS, ISO 20022).
Drive initiatives in real-time payments (RTP), API integration, and payment orchestration.
Lead system integration with core banking, liquidity management, fraud systems, and reconciliation platforms.
Risk, Compliance & Quality
Ensure all programs are audit-ready and compliant with MAS, HKMA, PSD2, ISO 20022, and other global standards.
Identify and mitigate risks across delivery, operations, and technology domains.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
✅ What We're Looking For
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
10–15 years of experience delivering large-scale banking technology programs, with 5+ years in wholesale/corporate payments.
Proven track record managing complex, multi-country initiatives (>$10M budget).
Deep knowledge of payment schemes (SWIFT, ISO 20022, ACH, RTP, CHIPS, etc.) and transaction flows.
Strong command of Agile / Hybrid methodologies, DevOps practices, and modern software delivery models.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience working with global or regional banks, payment networks, or fintechs highly preferred.
💡 Desirable Skills
Certifications: PMP, PgMP, SAFe, Agile, ITIL.
Experience in ISO 20022 migration, SWIFT gpi, cross-border payment innovations, and instant payment systems.
Familiarity with cloud-native architecture, microservices, and API-led integration.
