Data Scientist
Job description
A fantastic opportunity has opened up to work with one of the world's leading commodities trading companies. This role will be working in the commodities trading team to develop cutting edge AI solutions, and is a great opportunity to work in a global team and learn more about commodities trading. This role is being offered on a multi-year renewable contract.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals, gather requirements, and identify data sources.
Conduct exploratory data analysis and provide rapid iterations of analysis to refine posed problem and identify potential solutions.
Select and develop the appropriate machine learning algorithm /statistical model to address a particular business question.
Interpret and communicate analytical findings and insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborate with Data/ML engineers to integrate models and algorithms into production.
Contribute to the development of data science infrastructure, tools, and frameworks for efficient data analysis, experimentation, and model deployment.
Research industry trends and identify industry best practices to develop best practice within the Data & Analytics team.
Align delivery of the solutions with Agile methodologies.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Data Scientist (5 years +), with a strong track record of delivering impactful data-driven solutions.
Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience in data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, Polars, NumPy, SciPy).
Proficiency in machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g. PyTorch, scikit-learn) and data visualization tools (e.g., matplotlib, seaborn).
Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms (regression, SVM, gradient boosting, RNNs, Transformers, etc.) and experience working with time series datasets.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Self-motivated and a good team player, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
