Legal Counsel – Retail and Private Banking
Job description
Are you a dynamic legal professional with expertise in retail and private banking? Do you excel in a fast-paced environment where you can offer legal guidance on crucial banking operations? We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join an established foreign bank in Singapore. You will oversee all legal matters related to retail and private banking, including regulatory compliance, anti-money laundering (AML) and more.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive legal advice to business units within retail and private banking to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Oversee and advise on regulatory requirements, ensuring the bank adheres to applicable financial laws and guidelines issued by local regulators.
Collaborate with compliance teams to address anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing requirements. Review and advise on AML frameworks, policies, and risk mitigation strategies.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documentation for retail and private banking products and services.
Handle legal disputes and litigation involving retail and private banking activities. Manage external legal counsel as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent. A master’s degree or professional legal qualification is preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a legal professional within retail or private banking. Prior experience in a law firm or in-house legal team is desirable.
Evidence of good analytical and problem-solving skills excellent communication abilities, and the capability to work collaboratively across departments.
Admission to the Bar (or equivalent legal qualification) in a recognised jurisdiction.
